Gaining theoretical knowledge
As part of my preparations for the sailing journey down the coast of Europe and into the Mediterranean, I have enrolled in the Utsjöskepparekurs (Steg 3) – Sweden’s most advanced offshore navigation course.
This course goes far beyond coastal sailing. It focuses on the realities of navigating the North Sea and the English Channel, heavy commercial traffic, complex tidal systems, and long-distance route planning along Europe’s Atlantic coast. It also covers essentials for crossing into the Mediterranean, including weather strategy, safe harbouring in unfamiliar waters, international regulations, and the practical seamanship required for extended offshore passages.
For me, this is not just education – it is preparation for a journey that will take me through many of the coastal cities where our members and clients operate. The sailing expedition is both a personal challenge and a professional initiative: a chance to meet energy companies on their home shores, strengthen our collaboration, and bring O2O RENEWABLE’s spirit of exploration and knowledge-sharing out onto the sea itself.
By taking the Utsjöskepparekurs, I am investing in safe, capable, and well-planned navigation – and ensuring that each mile of the voyage to Rome is conducted with the same professionalism and attention to detail that we bring to our work with wind and solar asset owners.
I look forward to sharing more as the preparations continue.
If you are interested in the journey, the meetings planned along the route, or how this connects to our broader initiatives in wind and solar operations, feel free to reach out.
